Telegram Scam Prevention Guide
Scams targeting crypto users on Telegram are increasingly common. To help protect your assets, we have summarized several common types of scams and provided the correct ways to verify official OKX channels. Please review carefully and stay vigilant to avoid falling victim.
Typical Telegram scams:
Scam Type 1: Impersonating OKX Official Staff or Communities
Impersonating OKX official staff: Scammers may proactively contact you under various pretexts—such as claiming you can receive a password red packet, unfreeze your account/remove risk control, or guiding you to download unofficial wallets—to request your account information and ultimately steal your assets.
Creating fake official communities: Scammers may create fake official communities and post various fraudulent investment schemes within the group, such as digital asset swaps, instant exchanges, mining, high-yield interest programs, airdrop claims, or smart contracts. These projects often promise unrealistic high returns to lure you into investing.
Fraud Prevention Strategies:
OKX will never proactively contact you or request sensitive information: OKX will never send unsolicited text messages or make phone calls to users, and will never ask for your passwords, SMS codes, or Google Authenticator codes under any circumstances.

3. Investment scams: Do not join or trust any groups or projects that claim to offer high returns through swaps, arbitrage, cross-exchange trading, mining pools, instant exchanges, smart contracts, or high-yield crypto interest. Stay rational and remain vigilant.
4. Setup your Telegram privacy: To prevent being added to any unknown scam groups, you can set: Setting > Privacy and Security > Invites, and change Everybody to My Contacts.
5. Contact us if unsure: If you are unsure about the authenticity of a group or private message, be sure to verify it with OKX official customer service.
How to Identify Genuine and Fake Official Telegram Groups/Admins
Official Telegram group: Carefully review the group information and look for the official verification badge (blue checkmark). You can also copy the group link and verify it on the OKX official verification page.
Official Admin: Click the admin’s profile, copy the username (in the format @letters), and verify it through OKX official verification channels. Make sure to pay attention to the case and order of letters in the username.
Scam Type 2: Private Chats or Transactions with Strangers
These types of scams are typically conducted on a one-on-one basis and carry a very high level of risk.
1. Promotion of High‑Yield Projects / Unknown Software / Malicious Links:
Strangers may contact you privately to promote so‑called “high‑yield projects,” attempting to lure you into transferring funds or installing unknown applications. They may also send links or files embedded with malware (often disguised as official announcements or violation notices). Do not tab or download any unfamiliar links or files under any circumstances.
2. Low‑Price / High‑Price Offers to Induce Private Transactions:
Scammers may message you claiming they can “sell USDT at a low price” or “buy USDT at a high price,” often impersonating official staff to provide false guarantees. Private transactions carry an extremely high risk of fraud, and your asset security cannot be protected in such scenarios.
Anti-fraud strategies:
Do not trust private messages from strangers: Do not easily trust the content of private messages from strangers. If you are disturbed, please choose to block them.
Do not tab on unknown links/files: Do not tab on any unfamiliar files or links sent without reason.
Trade through the official platform: Always trade through the official trading platform; private transactions are usually scams.
Scam Type 3: Illegal and Non-compliant information
These types of scams involve legal risks; you should avoid them at all costs.
Scammers may send illegal images or videos in Telegram, or provide illegal information such as money laundering, 'stealing USDT', 'hacking USDT', as well as suspicious project advertisements and gambling information.
Anti-fraud strategies:
Do not trust the above situations. You can choose to directly block this person's messages, or @ the group admin to report them.
Note: Make sure to use official channels and beware of scams!
1. Make sure to add “https://” before searching for URLs and other links. Also, when entering URLs, accounts, or numbers for queries, please check the case sensitivity and completeness to avoid inaccurate authentication results.
2. When entering your Log In ID for a query, pay attention to the case and order of the letters. If there are any discrepancies, you can contact us for verification.
3. To ensure the security of your account, be sure to learn how to correctly authenticate official OKX channels. You can use the following methods to check and authenticate whether a social media account is an official OKX account:
1. Email and phone channels
Phone Channel: Select the country/region code, enter or copy the phone number to query and verify the result. For landline number queries, do not add a '-' in the number segment to avoid inaccurate authentication results;
Email authentication: Copy and enter the complete email address for authentication, and check the results. When entering your query, please ensure the correct case and completeness to avoid inaccurate authentication results;
2. X channel
Click to view your account homepage. Check the information displayed on the homepage and copy the link in the top left corner.
3. QQ Channel
Click to view the account homepage, verify the homepage information display, and obtain your invitee's operational QQ number (the only authentication method).
4. WeChat channel
Open WeChat, click on your friend's avatar to enter, and obtain the operator's WeChat ID (the only authentication method).
5. Discord channel
Web group authentication: Obtain the join link for the official Chinese Discord community, go to the official channel in the support center for authentication, select the channel, paste the query, and complete the authentication.
App side: Get the link to join the official Chinese Discord community, go to the support center's official channel authentication, select the channel, paste the query, and complete the authentication.
6. Weibo channel
Web: Copy the link in the upper left corner, copy the link you want to check, go to the official channel to authenticate and select the Sina channel, paste the link to query, and complete the authentication.
App side: Tap the full-feature icon in the upper right corner to enter your personal information, select 'Copy Link', go to the official channel of the App support center to authenticate, choose the channel, paste the query, and complete the authentication.
